Here at When the Cake Door Opens,  I create Elegant Bespoke Wedding and Special Occasion cakes and cupcakes for customers across Yorkshire.  I have been baking for many, many years and in 2020 my cake studio was opened.

What was the inspiration behind the name?

For many years since my two children were little and every year making birthday cakes for them and for family, I have always dreamt of having my own little cake business. One day my daughter (now very much grown up with children of her own) said to me. “Go for it Mum, remember when one door closes another one opens" . And that was it. “When the cake door opens “. My children are always my inspiration in life and cakes, and I couldn’t do this without them. So even though I’m the cake maker this is still very much a family affair.

A little bit about me.

I am mainly self-taught, although I numerous years of experience within a bakery background.  I am continually training and learning new skills as there is always more to learn.  In 2014 I was runner up in the national cupcakes championship and not satisfied with 2nd place in 2016 I was awarded National cupcake champion with my winning creation of Pink Champagne and Strawberry Cupcakes. I did it.

My love and passion for everything cake is so important to me and this shows in my cakes. Not only does a cake need to look good but it needs to taste good too and all my cakes are made with high quality ingredients for the perfect flavour and texture . Cakes are like people its what’s on the inside that counts too. Every cake is made with love and the love shines through in my cakes. I look forward to creating your dream cakes, big or small.
